Also known as Mud Adder. Favours cracks in clay baked soil on moist alluvial flats vegetated with woodlands or scrublands, particularly lignum and brigalow. Preys on frogs, geckos. Potentially dangerous. Critically endangered in Victoria, where there are a small pocket; otherwise found in central south Queensland and c entree northern NSW.
