KING BROWN SNAKE

Capable of inflicting a fatal bite. Also known as Mulga Snake. Large, dangerous snake, widely distributed across most of Australia mainland ; becoming rare in areas where Cane Toads are established. Commonly feeds on other snakes; actually a black snake but called King Brown because it eats brown snakes. When a person is bittern they are given black snake anti-venom, not brown.

Dangerous. Found in eastern Australia from far northern Queensland to se SA. Diurnal snake usually associated with streams, swamps and lagoons. Live-bearing. Feeds principally on frogs, but also reptiles,birds and small mammals.
