native to New Guinea, some islands in Indonesia, and the Cape York Peninsula in Australia. Lives in trees and hunts small lizards and mammals. Of least concern.

Widespread in arid Australia. generally associated with rocky outcrops, but also occurs in open plains, sheltering in termite mounds, soil crevices and in timber in watercourses. Nocturnal, eating birds, reptiles, frogs and mammals.

Also known as Eastern Small-blotched Python, or Eastern Children's Python. Found in northern Australia and PNG. Popular pet. One of its favourite foods is insectivorous bats, which it captures by waiting at the entrance to their caves.

Found in northern part of Australia, except most arid areas. Wide range of habitat from humid coastal forests and seasonal dry tropical woodlands to arid interior. Nocturnal. Feeds on small mammals, ground birds and reptiles, including venomous snakes.

Also known as Coastal Carpet Python and Diamond Python. Found on mainland Australia except southern Victoria and arid centre and west. Wide range of habitats. Often arboreal, some areas live in burrows. Mostly nocturnal and crepuscular. Feeds on variety of terrestrial vertebrates.
