Capable of inflicting a fatal bite. Also known as Mulga Snake. Large, dangerous snake, widely distributed across most of Australia mainland ; becoming rare in areas where Cane Toads are established. Commonly feeds on other snakes; actually a black snake but called King Brown because it eats brown snakes. When a person is bittern they are given black snake anti-venom, not brown.

Capable of inflicting fatal bite. Occurs tropical NT and Queensland, commonly encountered in suburbs of Darwin. Diurnal, crepuscular, nocturnal. Eats frogs, reptiles and mammals.

Also called Common Brown Snake. Extremely venomous, considered world's second most venomous snake; considered responsible for about 60% of snake bite deaths in Australia. Native to eastern and central Australia and southern New Guinea. Highly active diurnal predator. Found in most habitats except dense forest. Main prey is house mice.

Potentially dangerous. Found in drier parts of mainland Australia states except Victoria. Arid scrubs and scrublands, hummock grasslands. Feeds mostly on lizards.
