16 AMETHYST PYTHON Morelia amethistina
AUSTRALIAN SNAKES 2
Also known as Australian Scrub Python, Amethystine Python or Scrub Python. Found in north-eastern Queensland and islands of Torres Straits. Variety of habitats from rainforests to open savannah woodlands, monsoon forest, secondary regrowth and scrubby vegetation on coral cays. Feeds on wide variety of vertebrates.
Note: taxonomic discussion and Morelia kinghorni may be split; mainland species may be referred to as Morelia clarkia.
