Also known as Thick-tailed Gecko. From the family of Carphodactylidae. Found in rocky outcrops across southern Australia. Nocturnal and shelter under rocks or in burrows during the day. Feeds on insects and small vertebrates.

Endemic to Australia. Nocturnal, travelling large distances at night foraging, feeding on insects. Eyes are large and are a slit during the day but full during the night; eyes unable to be closed, covered by transparent scales which are cleaned by licking with the tongue. Found in drier arid and semi-arid parts of mainland states and territories.
