Capable of inflicting a fatal bite. Also known as Mulga Snake. Large, dangerous snake, widely distributed across most of Australia mainland ; becoming rare in areas where Cane Toads are established. Commonly feeds on other snakes; actually a black snake but called King Brown because it eats brown snakes. When a person is bittern they are given black snake anti-venom, not brown.

In all states except Tasmania; Arid and eastern central Australia; north and central regions of Victoria; far n-e of WA.
